The human version of the privacy policy.
Effective June 6, 2026.
This is the version of the privacy policy written so a regular person can actually read it. The site is funded by readers, not advertisers, and that lets us collect very little. Here is exactly what we do collect, what we don’t, who else touches it, and how to delete all of it.
What we collect.
- Your email — if you sign up. We use magic-link sign-in, so there’s no password stored.
- Display name and country — if you fill them in. The country lets us show you the right tax content (US vs. Canada).
- Goals you create and bookmarks you save — so we can show them back to you on your dashboard.
- The questions you ask Molecule — kept for 30 days so you can scroll back through your history and so we can spot abuse patterns, then auto-deleted.
- Page-load analytics via PostHog — aggregated counts of which pages people read, where they drop off, how the site performs. No individual session replay. You can decline analytics at the cookie banner and everything still works.
What we do not collect.
- Credit card numbers. We don’t process payments today. When we do, it’ll be through Stripe — Stripe holds the card, we just see a customer id and a subscription status.
- The contents of documents you paste into Molecule. If you paste a paystub or a 1099 into the chat to ask about it, the message lives in the 30-day window with your other chat history and is then deleted. We don’t extract, index, or retain document contents past that.
- Your contacts, location, device fingerprint, or browsing history outside this site. We don’t ask for any of it and we don’t buy it from anyone who does.
How we use what we collect.
To operate your account, to show you your own goals and bookmarks, to display Molecule’s remaining quota counter, and to run aggregate analytics so we know which pages help and which ones don’t.
We do not train AI models on your data. We do not sell, rent, or share it with brokers, advertisers, or anyone else outside the third parties listed below who help us actually run the site.
Cookies and analytics.
Two cookie categories, total:
- Strictly necessary — the auth session that keeps you signed in. You can’t opt out of this and have a working account.
- Analytics — PostHog. You can decline this at the cookie banner; the site works fine without it.
No advertising cookies, ever. No tracking pixels embedded from ad networks. No fingerprinting scripts.
Third parties we use.
We use the smallest set of vendors we can to actually run the site. Each one was chosen because they take privacy seriously on paper and in their settings; we configure them to be as narrow as possible.
- Supabase — database and authentication. US-hosted. Holds your account, goals, bookmarks, and chat history.
- Vercel — hosting. Serves the site to your browser and runs the API routes that talk to Supabase and Anthropic.
- PostHog — analytics. EU-hosted. Counts page views in aggregate. Declinable at the cookie banner.
- Anthropic — the AI behind Molecule. When you ask Molecule a question, the question is sent to Anthropic’s API to generate the answer. Per Anthropic’s stated policy, they do not train their models on API traffic.
- Voyage AI — embeddings for the knowledge-base search. We send chunks of our own knowledge base (not your questions) to Voyage to generate the vectors Molecule searches against.
- Resend — transactional email (magic-link sign-in, account notifications). They see your email address and the message we’re sending you.
Your rights.
Email info@moneymolecule.com from your account email and we’ll do any of the following, no fee and no friction:
- Export everything we have on you, as a download.
- Hard-delete your account and everything attached to it (goals, bookmarks, chat history, email record) within 7 days.
- Correct any specific record you can point us to.
Children.
Money Molecule is for adults — 18 and over. We don’t knowingly collect data from minors. If you’re a parent and you believe we have data on a minor, email info@moneymolecule.com and we’ll delete it.
Updates to this policy.
Material changes get a banner across the top of the site for at least 14 days before they take effect, so you can read them and decide whether to keep your account. The full history of revisions lives at /corrections.
